Redesign of the three-wheeler models of Kerala Automobiles Limited by a team of S8 Mechanical Engineering Students

The public sector Kerala Automobiles Limited (KAL) received assistance from a team of engineering students (S8 Mechanical Engineering) from MBCET to redesign one of its three-wheeler models. The remodeling was taken up by Sonu S.Babu, Rahul Harish, U.R.Rachin, I.Irfan Ahmed and A.Anshad, guided by Mr.Vinod .V, Lecture M.E, as part of their project work done at the KAL plant

Diesel Spark Ignition Technology (DSI)

A group of final year B-Tech students from Mechanical Department comprising of Akash Sagar, Arun Unnikrishnan, S.Jagajith, Sibu Dee Sam and Vishnu V.M guided by Mr. R.V. Krishnan, Lecturer of ME department developed a new technology named DSI technology as part of their project work, which enables a petrol powered vehicle to run on diesel without the drawbacks associated with a diesel engine. This project found place in various newspapers.

Our students have participated and won several intercollegiate technical and cultural fests. Mentioning a few of prominence:

Overall 2nd position in DHWANI ’09 conducted at College of Engineering, Trivandrum
Overall 4th position in RAGAM ’09 conducted at NIT, Calicut
Rahul Harish (S8 ME) hosted and compeered the prestigious “International Film Festival of Kerala” held in Dec’ 09. He was also a member of the Opposition in the ‘Mock Lok Sabha’ conducted by the Uni-Y, the University students arm of YMCA in 2008
Sonia Thomas, S8 CS won the first prize for essay competition conducted by the Inner Wheel Club, Trivandrum. Her topic of recognition was “Environmental Protection”
Bini Koshy Varghese (S8 ME), Jayasenan J (S4 EC), Rohit Thomas & Sebin John Mathew of S4 ME bagged 4th place for “Contraption” at ‘Mechanica09’ by IIT Chennai
