IEEE COMPUTER SOCIETY - RICHARD E MERWIN SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
IEEE Computer Society offers $40,000 in student scholarships from $1,000 and up to recognize and reward active student volunteer leaders in student branches or chapters who show promise in their academic and professional efforts.
This scholarship was created in honor of the late Richard E. Merwin, past president of the IEEE Computer Society, to recognize and reward student leadership.
Miss Alka Ajit, final year student of Information Technology, Mar Baselios College of Engineering & Technology, Trivandrum has been awarded the Richard E Merwin scholarship given by the IEEE Computer Society, part of world-renowned non-profit professional organization IEEE, in recognition of her exemplary involvement in student chapter activities and excellent academic achievement. Alka is one among eighteen students chosen from colleges and universities throughout the world for this scholarship. She is also the only one to receive this award in Kerala Section in 2015.
This scholarship was created in honor of the late Richard E. Merwin, past president of the IEEE Computer Society, to recognize and reward student leadership and it includes a memento and cash award of $1200. The selected winners of this award will have the opportunity to serve as IEEE Computer Society Student Ambassadors for the particular IEEE region to which they belong. Duties as Student Ambassadors will include collecting and disseminating information to student branches or chapters in their region and serving as a liaison between the IEEE Computer Society Member and Geographic Activities Board (MGAB) and student members in their region.
