Projects Guided by the Department
Each year, the department is guiding 15 main project groups of the final year students as well as 15 Mini projects of the pre final year students. The students are encouraged to use the latest software tools available. This empowers the students to gain advanced knowledge and ability to work in team which are essential to excel in today's competitive climate.
The final year students will also have to present Seminar topics based on recent developments in the Computer Science and Information Technology fields.
CAMPUS CONNECT
Campus connect is an industry-academia partnership initiative launched by Infosys. The Campus Connect initiative aims to enhance the education level of engineering students, nationwide and thus increase the employability of these budding engineers. MBCET is one of the institutes that Infosys has selected to conduct the campus connect program. Our students will be trained with the latest technology trends needed for the software industry. The campus connect program was introduced in MBCET during the year 2008-2009 and is still continuing in full fledge.
Foundation Program
Foundation Program (FP) is the training program designed for entry level students who on completion will be better prepared to work on real-life projects. Enabling teachers of the partner colleges to deliver FP is the most important task of this initiative. The training programs will be administered at the Campus Connect partner colleges. These programs enhance the IT industry specific basic knowledge and skills of the students of the partner engineering colleges.
The Foundation Program is designed by the Education & Research department of Infosys, primarily to train and prepare fresh engineering graduates who join the company, to take up challenging projects. It consists of courses in various streams such as J2EE, .Net, Mainframes, OS and other IBU specific streams. The Campus Connect (CC) initiative brings this well tested and successful training courseware and methodology in the generic stream to the partnering colleges. The generic stream courses will be taught directly by the partner college faculty, who are enabled by the Campus Connect team. Campus Connect also provides the necessary courseware and support to implement and sustain the program.
The generic stream courses cover the basic knowledge required for software professionals. Considering the college scenario, the same training program is to be delivered by college faculties with typical duration of 90 to 130 classroom hours.
The following is the list of Generic Courses of the Foundation Program:
Generic Courses of the Foundation Program
Computer Hardware and System Software Concepts (CHSSC)
Programming Fundamentals (PF)
Relational Database Management Systems
Programming and Testing
System Development Methodologies
Foundation Program Deployment Process
The Foundation program deployment process consists of 3 sections - Pre Deployment, Deployment and Post Deployment. Pre Deployment involves planning and preparation for the rollout .Deployment involves course delivery and student performance assessment Post Deployment involves student counseling, reporting and feedback
We had started the Deployment phase of Campus connect Foundation Program on August 2009. A batch of 60 students was selected for the program. By the end of this program, the student develops a good knowledge and understanding of the concepts and thus they get fully prepared to be software professionals.
